Elorde Garlic Croutons: Healthy Living
In 2027, the adage of health is wealth is in full swing! So, here’s something to add to enhance those pre-workout salads: some garlic croutons!
This recipe uses a particularly different type of bread, however. One known for its milkiness, crunchy crust and soft, fluffy filling.
Elorde is a delectable snack to have, but for this recipe, let’s give it some flavor with garlic, herbs and butter. Lots and lots of butter.
CREATING CROUTONS
Traditional croutons are slightly chewy on the inside, but the Elorde makes them much softer, gaining an almost melt-in-your-mouth texture.
But its special coating also enhances its flavor, particularly the garlic. Its aromatic compounds add a certain umami flavor to the bread, giving it a savory note that plain toasted bread lacks.
Additionally, the sweeter, milkier notes of Elorde give it a certain milkiness you wouldn’t otherwise have in traditional croutons.
INGREDIENTS:
NOTE: This recipe makes two (2) servings
- 4 pieces Elorde
- 100g unsalted butter
- 100g Buttercup margarine
- 4 cloves garlic
- Dried parsley
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Slice Elorde into bite-sized pieces then set aside.
2. In a pan, melt both the unsalted butter and the margarine. Once completely liquified, place in a mixing bowl and add minced garlic and parsley for the coating.
3. Place the Elorde pieces into the mixing bowl and continuously toss until all pieces are properly coated.
4. Place all the coated Elorde pieces onto a baking tray and spread them out evenly to account for the bread expanding.
5. Bake the pieces at 160° for 15 minutes, or until they become golden brown and crunchy.
6. Serve and enjoy!

And that’s how you easily make croutons at home! Add these to your salads and soups for an extra dash of flavor and texture.
If your diet needs a little more zing, these will definitely do just the trick.
